We often hear that tourism generates employment. However, the tourism industry is far from being gender just. We study how the industry has marginalised women's needs, reduced their access to resources, provided largely unsafe and insecure employment, exacerbated existing inequities in society and promoted the objectification and dehumanisation of women.
