Remembering Com T Peter

T Peter, General Secretary of the National Fishworkers Forum (NFF), passed away on 8 October 2020 from COVID-19 related complications in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was 62 years old. Peter worked for more than three decades plyaing a critical role in advancing their struggles from the margins into the political mainstream. He was as a full time activist and union organizer, who empowered India’s fishing communities.

 Dear Sir,

 We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing away of Mr. T. Peter, the General Secretary of the National Fishworkers Forum. Peter has been a vociferous activist, tirelessly advocating for the rights of fieldworkers. 

In our journey to make tourism just and equitable, Peter has been a co-traveller, influencing us all with unfailing energy and enthusiasm to advocate for the rights of fish-workers. We believe that the world has lost a great leader and visionary, at a time when the world is in dire need of far thinking people like Com Peter.

We would like to convey our deepest condolences to Peter’s family and friends. We will all miss him dearly.
