In the wake of increasing tourism activities in the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) and the impact of the activity both in the Reserve as well as in the Surrounds,the Kerala Forest Department through an open bid had called for a consultation for Visitor Management and Participatory Ecotourism Strategy for the PTR and its surrounds. EQUATIONS bid for it and was accepted.This report presents details of the study undertaken by EQUATIONS with all available information on PTR, and also generated, during the course of the study. Based on this, recommendations and strategies for conservation oriented tourism and necessary management systems are provided in the report for PTR.
