Mumbai:
In a bid to further develop and upgrade tourism facilities, the Maharashtra government has planned to set up a Tourism Promotion Council. The council will act as an apex body to guide, supervise and monitor activities in tourism sector.

The State Tourism Minister, Mr Chhagan Bhujbal, said the proposal to set up the Council has been sent to the Chief Minister.

“The proposal will come before the Cabinet soon, following which, the terms and conditions of the Council will be notified separately,” Mr Bhujbal added. The Council will be headed by the Chief Minister, while the Deputy Chief Minister will be its Vice-Chairman.
