Staff Reporter, Thiruvananthapuram:

The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) Hotels and Resort's convention centre in the sprawling Samudra property at Kovalam will give a fillip to MICE (Meetings, Incentive, Convention and Exhibitions) Tourism in the capital.

The convention centre will come up in the KTDC property between the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (IHMCT) and the entrance to Hotel Samudra.

The centre will have all modern facilities and is to be set up with the Rs.4-crore financial assistance extended by Union Ministry of Tourism. The KTDC had decided to name the proposed convention centre after Goda Varma Raja to commemorate the birth centenary of the first chairman of the corporation. Popularly known as G.V. Raja, he is considered the ‘Father of Kerala Tourism' as he was instrumental in fetching a name for Kerala in the world tourism map.
