Mumbai: Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has said the government is working on a comprehensive model for preserving and promoting the state's heritage, as per a TOI report. "We will come up with a proper policy in this regard soon," he said while addressing a seminar on the potential of Heritage Tourism in UP, last week.

Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur, President of Indian Heritage Hotels Association, who was the guest of honour at the event, said, "It is undeniable that UP has immense potential for Heritage Tourism. I don't think that there is any other place in India with such diversely rich royal heritage. But tourism becomes a reality only when chief ministers lead the project." Singh stated that in destinations where heritage has become a part of the tourism industry, the entire area has benefitted. "Besides generating employment for all, Heritage Tourism instills a sense of pride among the people by making them conscious of their past," he stated.

Sanjay Singh, President of Indian UP Heritage Hotels Association showed some slides on the potential properties in the state. He also urged the government to finalise its tourism policy soon to let the business take off.
