Thiruvanathapuram: Kerala government today said that the police have been asked to maintain strict vigil against child labour and children being used for begging.

As many as 61 children mainly from neighbouring states were rescued from the clutches of middlemen in the past two years and 11 cases registered, Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan informed the state Assembly. KC-B MLA K B Ganeshkumar said children from neighbouring states were engaged as workers in hotels in the state and they were also subjected to sexual harassment.
