WORK WITH US

Work With Us

We are always interested in people who may be interested in us!

We have been obsessed with the question: Who Really Benefits from Tourism? Our work of the last 25 years indicates that the local communities – supposedly the ‘hosts’ -  are those who benefit the least and have to bear the negative impacts of unregulated and often irresponsible tourism development.

Would you like to join us? We are a small team, based in Bangalore, but work nationally. Researches, strong analysis, connecting with local groups and movements and supporting their struggles, are key features of our work.

If you have the energy and desire to work on tourism issues, have excellent analytical and communication skills, enjoy multi-tasking, are willing to travel, be overworked and underpaid...we would be very keen to hear from you!  Work experience in the development sector particularly in advocacy, research and networking will be important. Sharing our vision and values will be critical. Fluency with more than one Indian language will be valued.

Send us your resume: tell us more about yourself, your strengths and expectations and what areas of our work interest you. Write in to hr@equitabletourism.org.

Click here to download current positions - June 2010.

We also welcome people to write to us even if there is not a specific opportunity advertised. If you are curious and would like to explore opportunities for working with us, do write to us.

Intern/Volunteer With Us

EQUATIONS is committed to providing capacity building and learning opportunities to students both domestic and international to gain a critical perspective about tourism policy and impacts by interning with us. The focus of the internship is expected to be on issues connected with our areas of work and priorities. We do make serious efforts to match this with the intern’s skills and interests as well. Would you like to explore this further?  Do write to us at hr@equitabletourism.org.

We do not have the financial resources to offer a stipend but we do provide solid learning opportunities, use of our extensive material and resources and our time to help you learn and contribute through expert guidance (and free lunch!!).

We also welcome requests if you would like to volunteer with us, We are flexible about the amount of time you can spend and the kind of work you would like to do – do let us know if this is something we can take further in a discussion with you. Volunteer work has ranged from helping with Organisation Development to sorting out our news clippings, to proof reading our documents, helping with our website and helping us develop a data base of all our contacts. We are grateful for any volunteer help – do contact us.
